The Only Way To Say Goodbye

The First Picture Ever Posted on Picturing Disney: 11/20/11

I founded Picturing Disney almost 7 years ago.
We started out as a small little photo blog devoted to pictures I had taken in the parks over the years.

Part of Your World: A Mermaid Themed Baby Shower

My daughter and I were excited to throw a fun, mermaid inspired bridal shower for my sister in law.  Of course it would need to have many nods to our favorite Mermaid of all...without being specifically Ariel themed.  Could we pull it off?  Come see!

When Fairy Tales Come True: An Up-Themed Disney Engagement Party!

I am many things.  Three of those are: someone who life has broken in the past, a true believer in fairytales (and the heroines that rule them), and a cynical optimist (yes, you read that correctly, I both doubt it will come and believe in happy endings at the same exact time).

Christmas means even more Disney magic at home!

If Disney is the most magical place on Earth and Christmastime is the most magical time of year its no wonder they go together like Peanut Butter & Jelly (or Banana if that's your fancy).  My home sparkles with the magical shimmer of Disney all year but at Christmas there are no decorations as fun or whimsical.

I think having a Disney tree sort of just happened to us.  It started when my mom used to let me and my siblings each pick out an ornament a year.  By the time I was 10 or 11 I started picking Disney ones each time. (my mom is so cute she still buys us a new ornament every year)!

I collect ornaments on most of my trips, or at Disney on Broadway shows. I like to collect ornaments that remind me of the particular trip I am on.

Somewhere along the way my decorations around the house have slowly started to become Disney themed as well!

I am also a big fan of the snowglobe pairs and ornaments that the Disney Store offers each year.  I guess the idea of Disney magic isn't that different from Christmas magic... it stays the whole year through.

Looking for some holiday ideas?  I am always fully stocked in Disney cocoa, and OF COURSE I always manage to incorporate Disney into my Christmas baking. (Click the pictures below for the links to the recipes pictured!)

Wonder Forge Games to Delight the Whole Family this Holiday!

I love good ole fashioned family fun and board games are right near the top of my family fun lists (I mean, you can't go to Disney World every day, right?)

I smell Disney!

Once upon a time I started upcycling candles at home and found a real market for the scents I was creating.  I found that I could easily recreate some of my favorite smells from Walt Disney World by playing around with fragrance combos and I had a great time doing it.

Being this was a side crafting venture of mine, when another etsy shop who was working with me for contests right here on Picturing Disney and I talked about our businesses and I shared my "recipe" I didn't realize what would come next.  She stole my idea, my scent combinations, and being she had more resources she was able to branch out, package them faster and cheaper and very quickly I found myself selling off my candles in a few bundles just to clear out my shop.  I was devastated and when I asked her about it she said she blew me off and expanded her line.

When I was in my favorite craft store a couple weeks ago I saw some affordable base wax and decided to grab some. Then I stumbled across my leftover jars from years ago.  It felt like a meant to be match.  So I decided to start clean and go back to my handmade roots.  I peeled off my old labels, handwrote new ones, poured a half dozen candles, and offered up a discount in my etsy shop to account for the supply cost going down.

Right now I have my first mini batch for sale on Etsy with more to come soon! If you are looking for a specific scent- message me or request a custom order and I will put it on my short list!

Our favorite non-Disney character, a Beagle, and a Giveaway!

Do you ever feel like you can find a little magic everywhere you go? I think if you try hard enough you can find a piece of Disney magic everywhere as well! Take this summer for example, my boyfriend and I had taken a trip up to the Normal Rockwell Museum. What was the first print we found when we walked in? One that Mr. Rockwell had dedicated to Mr. Disney himself!

Another animation icon, Charles M. Shulz's delightful characters have been part of my life forever.  I wasn't very surprised when I found out that after his precursor to the Peanuts strip (Lil Folks) came out, Shulz was invited to a probationary appointment at Walt Disney Studios! He turned it down, but I do like to think that it connects Mr. Good Grief & Mr. M. Mouse just a little!

When our friends over at LeSportSac partnered with Peanuts for a slew of new patterns to couple the adorable beagle's big screen release we just COULD NOT WAIT for a chance to check them out (and give them away to you!!!

As always, LeSportSac does not disappoint.  The creativity of pattern design, functional bag designs, and the high quality manufacture (not to mention the long life) of these bags is not to be paralleled!

The lines in these collections can be found here:

We are ready to share these cute bags with you... so stay tuned to Picturing Disney for a sweet giveaway (or two)!

Stirring up conversation with Disney Dinnerware

Recently a few of our writers returned from amazing adventures in Disney World.  A common thing that everyone has struggled with upon return is missing the "Disney Magic".  Getting into the swing of the daily grind after a Disney adventure can be rough!
