Late Summer/Early Fall Fantastic Book Finds From Disney Publishing!

We are thrilled about the partnership we have with Disney Publishing over the last several months and the new and recent releases could not be more promising! The adorable "purse" books which include both Sofia's Purse and Minnie's Purse can be carried around like pocketbooks (literally) and clip open to revel an adorable thin board book! You can get either of these for under $9* and they make an adorable addition to any little girls book collection (or a great gift)!

Just as I am a huge fan of animated/live-action combos I am a fan of the integration of photos and drawings in the great word recognition book My First Words.  It combines images of the real world and Disney characters.  The easy words can make this book transition from a book to help a baby learn new words to a book that helps an early reader identify letters.  At around $7* the quality can't be beat for this book!

Doc McStuffins hardcover book Doctor's Helper is incredible beautiful and well done.  I love the drawing style- it reminds me very much of the Frozen book I reviewed earlier this year! I love the smell of books that are printed in this style too.  This adorable story centers around Doc and Ellie and you can get a copy for around $13* and comes with a free e-book version.

Also be on the lookout for new adventures in the realm of thin paperbacks. Spiderman vs Dracula, A Goofy Fairytale, and Treasure of the Tides are out now.  Each adventure comes with a sticker page and can be picked up for around $5*!  Also look out for the Jake Winter Neverland board book for your favorite Disney Junior fan!

The Marvel release Captain America The Tomorrow Army is a chapter book with some comic stylings that I adore.  The pictures often have bubbles and the fonts remind me of some of my favorite comics.  You can nab a copy for under $7* or right now head over and enter our Back to School giveaway where a copy of this title is part of the prize pack!

Rounding out this roundup of books is a great compilation hardcover called Five Minute Spooky Stories.  Featured are stories starring character from your fave Disney films: Toy Story, Tangled, Finding Nemo, Winnie the Pooh, Sleeping Beauty, Monster's Inc, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cars, Beauty and the Beast, Wreck it Ralph, and of course Mickey & friends. For around $10* you can pick up this great book with stories to fill up your child's October bedtimes in anticipation of Halloween! The art is well done on this hardcover and the spooky stories are not spooky enough to haunt anyone at night! ;)

*All suggested prices are the Amazon listed prices as of publishing this article.  We received these books as review copies and the MSRP and local purchase prices in stores may differ (as well as the Amazon prices fluctuate).

LeSportSac Monster's Inc line is so cute its SCARY!

One of the reasons I love partnering with LeSportSac for reviews and giveaways is because I believe in their products! I used LSS bags long before we worked together and love the creative patterns that have been coming out with the partnership between LSS and Disney (and now Pixar).  The new Monster's Inc line is great! I love that it does not overtly scream character art and has a real concept art feeling to it-- and the monster pattern is great for Fall!

The Small Cleo bag is one of my favorites because it has exterior zip and open pockets plus interior zip and open pockets.  Additionally the strap expands to a nice crossbody and the interior is deep enough for me to hide my candy when I go to the movies! lol! I reviewed one of these on our New Year's giveaway so check out more stats and pictures of the Celebrate Minnie pattern here!

Another go-to LSS style is the Deluxe Everyday Bag.  This bag has the space and versatility for all of your daily needs and more! It would also be perfect for campus and commuting!
Here are some details from the official site:
9.75 x 14 x 5 in, 24.77 x 35.56 x 12.7 cm
Two main compartments with zipped closures, Zip out expandable front main compartment, Exterior back pocket with zipped closure, Two exterior front pockets with zipped closures, Adjustable shoulder strap (Max. 50in /127cm), Includes matching pouch with zipped closure

This was my first time trying out the Medium Weekender and I could not be more pleased! I have been looking for a replacement for the backpack I cary as a carryon when flying and this is perfect!! It is just the right size and as luck would have it the interior purple of these bags matches my suitcase! :)
Here are some details from the official site:
11.5 x 16.5 x 8.75 in, 29.21 x 41.91 x 22.23 cm
Zipped main closure, Exterior front and back pockets with zipped closures, Two exterior side pockets with zipped closures, Top handles, Adjustable/detachable shoulder strap, Includes matching pouch with zipped closure

You really can't go wrong with any purchase from LSS and this line just proves that the patterns are getting more creative and fun over time! Also be sure to enter our contest this week to win this great Mini Backpack filled with fun Disney goodies!

Guardians of the Galaxy Review

From the moment Guardians of the Galaxy was introduced at the 2013 D23 Convention in Anaheim, California, needless to say it sparked interest in our household. Not having ever heard of this comic book before, Marvel reassured the audience that this new step into the Marvel Universe would be unforgettable.

And they were right.

From left to right: Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Bradley Cooper
voices Rocket, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star Lord,
Vin Diesel voices Groot, and Dave Bautista as Drax
Without giving too much away **No Spoilers Here**, Guardians of the Galaxy recaptured what a film about intergalactic battles and rivalry are all about. Dare I say, it is reminiscent of the fresh air Star Wars brought into the world back in the 70's. Its almost like you've bumped into some of Hans Solo's colleagues in another universe. Each character is from a completely different walk of life. Yet, somehow, they find a reason to band together. Something else that I wanted to highlight was the use of prosthetics and makeup in this film. I have not seen such sophisticated makeup design in a while. Each species of alien had a distinct trait. However, the differences were simple and elegant.

And lets be honest, its kinda hard to not forget about this crazy crew of bandits when you have the song Hooked On A Feeling stuck in your head. Speaking of which, the soundtrack to this film is phenomenal.  They have two albums available. One has the film's musical score and the other is a collection of songs that can be found on Peter Quill's Awesome Mix Vol. 1. Remember when I talked about Spotify? Well, they have both albums and they are great to listen to on the drive to work, at work, or anywhere really.

The film is full of comedic antics and the heroism Marvel films are known for. Friends who have also seen the movie (and are bonafide Marvel/Comic Fans), have said that this could quite possibly be the BEST film to come out of Marvel Studios.

Check out the trailer and definitely check it out in theaters. This is definitely not one to miss.

OH One Last Thing...... ;)
