When Fairy Tales Come True: An Up-Themed Disney Engagement Party!

I am many things.  Three of those are: someone who life has broken in the past, a true believer in fairytales (and the heroines that rule them), and a cynical optimist (yes, you read that correctly, I both doubt it will come and believe in happy endings at the same exact time).

Coffee First with Joffrey's Coffee and Tea

We absolutely love working with Joffrey's Coffee and Tea Company, especially when they send us some yummy goodies to try. We've already gotten to read about some of their wonderful teas (click here to read more), so lets dive into some of their flavored coffee!!

Aulani
Want to escape for a moment during breakfast to the tropical island of Hawaii? Well Joffrey's has created a morning blend so you can feel as though you are at the Disney Resort and Spa, Aulani. As Joffrey's would say, "Begin your mornings as they do at Aulani". Named after the resort, Aulani has a blend of the rich Kona coffee beans and tropical fruit flavors are definitely something that delight. The coffee has a distinct smooth, buttery taste that will compliment any yummy breakfast in bed (Mickey pancakes or waffles anyone?!).

Trattoria al Forno
I have been trying to find the perfect coffee for those mornings where you need a small pick me up (Especially Mondays...Need I say more?) and I think I've found it in Joffrey's Trattoria al Forno. This flavor is reminiscent of the Italian restaurant at Walt Disney World's Board Walk Resort, sweet and simple. The Italian flavors experience will make your taste buds dance and sing. The sweet berry and milk chocolate aroma start your tasting experience at a high point. As you finish your cup, a citrus and dark berry flavor makes your smile spread further across your face. Who wouldn't want to start their morning on such a sweet note?!

Joffrey's definitely makes you feel as though you are back "Home", as you'll hear a lot of Disney enthusiasts will claim. Even when you can't get out to the Parks, Joffrey's is a great option to feel as though you are at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Enjoy Joffrey's Teas for some Disney magic at home!

I can say with sincere honesty that I did not know much about the Joffrey's company before seeing them pop up as a coffee producer in Disney Parks.  We immediately became vacation BFFs.

Without Joffrey's I wouldn't be able to make my way through 3am extra magic hours and then get up after a few hours to ensure a ride on Test Track at park opening.

At home however, I am not much of a coffee drinker. I am a tea girl!  While I am being honest here I should admit... I am a complete tea snob.  I love loose tea.  Tea sachets are so convenient and the taste is so much better than tea bags that I gladly pay the upcharge for the loose-tea-in-a-tea-bag flavor.

I tried Joffrey's Black Currant loose and Earl Grey sachets this weekend (Thanks to Joffrey's for sending them to us to sample!) The teas were sweet and smooth in all the right ways.  (similar to Harney & Sons)  I was more than pleased to find out that I can get these varieties right in Disney Springs on my next trip to Walt Disney World! I cannot wait to enjoy my favorite drink (iced chai) on my trip and grab some tea to bring home for future enjoyment.

Joffrey's at Food & Wine Fest

As you know, here at Picturing Disney we are huge fans of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival as well as huge fans of the offerings from our sponsor, Joffrey's.  (Which reminds me: Did you know that the Tea Traders Cafe opened in Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney, this summer??)

In any case, back to Food & Wine Fest... the beverages found in World Showcase rival all the food offerings and Joffrey's coffee and tea creations are not only fan but person favorites! As you can guess from the giant image at the top of this article, my FAVORITE is the frozen Chai with Baileys! I can't recommend this drink enough! Want more details on the Joffrey's offerings, read on and click here.

From Joffrey's:

Joffrey's is proud to sponsor the epic Food & Wine Event at Epcot.  Joffrey's will offer specialty drinks in the passport, and other events to be announced.  We welcome you to stop by and taste a twist on our artisan coffee creations just for adults, plus there are always giant donuts for the kids!

Capt. Cook's Dining Review

It's been quite a while since we posted an updated review on Capt. Cook's (see 2012 review here).  We decided to check out the remodeled Capt. Cook's since it just reopened.

After a long ride on Disney Park Transportation, we were really happy to sink into some cozy seating. I decided to try something different this time around. I chose the Chicken and Waffles featuring crispy buffalo chicken fritters on a waffle with romaine and ranch dressing (Buffalo sauce on the side). Gus ordered the famous Pulled Pork Nachos topped with Onions, Cheese, Spicy Mayo, Tomatoes, and Pineapple Salsa.

We picked out a spot and took in some of the tropical feel of the room. Warm wood and banana tree leaves add warmth to the room. The textured walls and Polynesian type markings accent the space beautifully.

We tried the pork nachos and were instantly disappointed. The toppings were cold and the chips were tough and inedible. Gus went back and asked for fresh plate. Within 5 minutes or so, he was given the new plate, but it did not help. The dish did not compare to the awesome pork nacho found in Miami. The pork had little to no seasoning.  The nachos were bland.

This was a photo of the first batch.

I was also disappointed with my chicken and waffles.  The waffle was dry and the chicken rubbery.

If we weren't so hungry, we would have left and tried out one of the other locations upstairs.

To add insult to injury, the food did not sit well with me and ended up causing us to cancel the rest of our plans for the day (getting sick at Disney stinks period.)
