Gaston's Tavern Review

As most of you know I have been dying for the Beauty & the Beast area of the Fantasyland expansion to open since I was about 10 and wanted to be part of that world (excuse my Little Mermaid reference, but you know I love that one too).  There has always been something about Belle, I loved her as a heroine, I loved that she was a brunette bookworm, I loved the story and I was obsessed with it as much as some who is barely double digits in age can obsess.
On our recent trip we finally got to experience this area and while there are pages and pages of Be Our Guest pictures on the way, I though I should start first with Gason's Tavern which I found to be wholly underrated in the things I have read on other sites.   First I think its important to look at the theming, because they really did capture the essence of Gaston's Tavern from the film. Right down to the dartboard where Gaston is kicking Lefou's butt and the portrait and chair of the hunky villain.

Next thing of note is that the food is tasty! My husband and I both had some "snacks" here but both of us were so filled we skipped lunch! He had the lamb and I had a pastry- yummy cinnamon rolls.  I would go so far as to say that the Lamb Shank is tastier than even the infamous turkey legs and I say this as a person who never loved turkey legs enough to order her own! The cinnamon rolls, which I loved, are bigger than Gaston's biceps and served hot! Yum! It was great eating on the lodge style tables and relaxing during such a busy time of year while everyone else was off trying to get in for a counterservice at Be Our Guest!

I also think its important that we mention the signature drink "Lefou's Brew" which is a frosty apple flavored drink seems to be often compared to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter's Butterbeer.  I did not make the connection until someone posted it on our Picturing Disney Facebook page but I do not think that we can compare these two drinks. Yes they come in souvenir mugs that are around the same size, but they are completely different.
And I like them both. :)

  1. Thanks for this review, Mel. We need to consider a stop at Gaston's for our upcoming trip, I think!
