Rock Love's Heart Stopping Disney Jewelry Collection

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Dagger Heart Necklace

The first time I laid eyes on a Rock Love Jewelry piece my heart skipped a beat.
Its ironic that I was looking at the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Dagger Heart Necklace.  I started sweating like I had just eaten a poison apple.  The piece set my heart aflutter!

I followed the link to Rock Love Jewerly from Twitter and laid my eyes on the DisneyXRockLove collection.  A collection for the Princess who loves the bad girls!  The Villainess collection is inspired by The Evil Queen (Snow White), The Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland) and Ursula (The Little Mermaid). I love the entire collection but my heart belongs to the Snow White pieces. The facets on the heart jewels give the pieces an almost wicked sparkle.

Some of my favorite pieces from the collection:

Snow White:

Alice in Wonderland:

Little Mermaid:

These devilishly inspired pieces are so charming I had to speak with the designer who created the line. I reached out and Allison Cimino was ever gracious in amusing my curiosity!

Allison is a self professed workaholic who just got back from manning her packed and super successful pop up boutique at New York Comic Con.

Although Allison is busy working on many more Disney collections she took the time out to talk to us and indulge my inner fan girl!

-Did you always know what you wanted to do in life or did jewelry design evolve out of some other passion or path?

I've made jewelry since I was a little kid (using Lisa Frank plastic beads, Bedazzlers, Shrinky Dinks and all of the other early 90's craft kits) but... I was a serious violinist and thought I would either be a musician or a psychologist.  My college didn't offer jewelry classes so I studied abroad in Florence, Italy, completing an apprenticeship intensive for fabrication and lost wax casting.  Old-world and low-tech, I wasn't allowed to use anything beyond hand tools... and I learned my Italian on the fly.

-What do you like to do in your down time?

I have, what you would call, a poor "work-life balance" (which means I'm a complete workaholic who needs to learn how to delegate).  I love what I do, so I want to do it all the time!  Before I hit full on stress-monster, my husband and our very photogenic German Shepherds whisk me away to camp in upstate New York.  No cell phone service, hot coffee and tea, plus a pile of murder mystery novels in the mountains acts as my emotional reset button.

-I bet you are a reader?  What is on your night stand?  What are you reading now?  What was your favorite book as a child and how do you think it motivates you to this day?

Definitely a reader, since my parents were strict and we weren't allowed to watch much television when I was a kid.  I read a lot of murder mysteries (currently: Preston & Childs) or high fantasy (currently: Robin Hobbs), but I also enjoy outdoorsy classics and art history (just re-read A Walk in the Woods and ordered this cool out of print book from the 60's about Japanese glass floats by Amos L Woods).

OR were you more of a movie kid? If you were...same as above what are your faves?

As soon as I left for college, I became a movie buff, catching up on all the films I missed when I wasn't allowed to watch TV.  I get into genre marathons but favorites will always be Hocus Pocus, What Dreams May Come, The Silence of the Lambs, Shawshank Redemption, Mulan, and Lilo & Stitch.  Writing that, I realize how contrary those films are in mood!

-Any other Disney collabs in your future (I noticed a teaser on social media!)  Care to drop any hints?

I'm working on many more Disney collections, both Classic and Villainess! I can't wait to share what's in store! I just released a collection based on my other top favorite movie since childhood - The Nightmare Before Christmas! The collection launched at Comic Con and is available on my website while supplies last.

Of course I had to order my very own piece from the #DisneyxRockLove Collection! I'll be featuring it here on the blog shortly but in the meantime you
can explore the Disney Collection and the rest of Allison's rockin' pieces on Rock Love Jewelry’s website

  1. I can't even BEGIN to explain how much I love this jewelry!! The pictures don't even do them justice. I was so excited to read all of this info about the designer, too, because I truly think she is a genius. Every Disney fan should own one of her pieces if not more!!
