First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden and her husband President Joe Biden recently visited patients at Children's National Hospital in Washington D.C. on Christmas Eve.

It is a long standing tradition for first ladies to visit Children's National Hospital during Christmas but the President's visit was a surprise. This became the first time a President joined in on the fun! To add to the excitement, many of these books were donated by Disney prompting Dr. Biden to thank Disney on her official twitter page.

Thank you @ChildrensNatl for all you do, and to all the children we met today, we hold you and your families in our hearts this holiday season. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/PeSLPnVB5f

Dr. Biden read “Olaf's Night Before Christmas” to the kids, which was broadcast to hundreds of children in their rooms at the hospital. The Walt Disney Co. provided copies of the book for each patient so they could follow along with the first lady. Each book included a White House bookmark as a keepsake. Adding an extra thrill, the President also showed the kids photos of his new dog, Commander, a four-month-old German Shepherd.

The annual tradition of a hospital visit by the first lady dates to Bess Truman, our First Lady from 1945 to 1953.

Disney is known for their generous charitable donations. Disney donated $500,00 to Toys for Tots giving 10,000 to children in the Orlando area. Disney VoluntEARS also work very closely with Second Harvest Food Bank in both
