Friday Disney Finds: Star Wars The Mighty Chewbacca In The Forest Of Fear

The Mighty Chewbacca In The Forest Of Fear is a young Star Wars lovers dream read.
Written by Origami Yoda author Tom Angleberger and illustrated by Andie Tong the book
is in perfect synch with the Star Wars Universe.

The Mighty Chewbacca is full of fast paced, action packed adventure and fun humor. Angleberger gets into the mind of a wookie so well he might as well have been born a big, cantankerous fur ball. With the help of a narrator who gets us past the Shryiiwook language barrier, Chewie's personality bursts to life. It is fun to know what is going on in his head after all of these years of wondering what he is saying. The book is worth the read just to feel like you are Han bonding with Chewie.

Every summer we pick out a book for my son to read right before going back to school.  Once he finishes his school's required summer reading he can kick back and enjoy whatever book appeals to him. There's nothing like the anticipation of reading a book for sheer enjoyment. The Mighty Chewbacca was this years pick and it was a winner!  It hit all the high points a tween boy could want in a book. It is funny, moves along at a nice pace and its never dull. My son read the book on our vacation and it was a struggle to get him to put it down.

My son's only complaint (which I agree with):  Not enough illustrations!

Tong's drawings are fun and we want more!

The Mighty Chewbacca- Illustrated by Andie Tong

Here's a non spoiler recap from the publisher:

When Chewbacca finds out that a job he thought was simply ferrying a ship full of tooka cats is actually much more dangerous, he’s excited to have something to do! But when he, a young bounty hunter librarian, and a droll cargo droid—(a rebel spy whose real name is K-2SO) land in the middle of a blue forest that seems to emit a fear-causing mist, Chewie realizes this job might be a bit too dangerous for his liking. He and his new friends will fight snarlers and sniffers and their own fears as they try to recover a sacred book, and save Han Solo in the process!
